DALI Award goes to Osram do Brasil
Frankfurt am Main 13. April 2010 – The top prize of this year's DALI Award has gone to Osram do Brasil (BR) for the 'Minas Gerais Administrative Center' (Brazil) project. The jury was unanimously impressed by the project on virtually every count. The key feature of the office complex lighting is daylight regulation for energy efficiency. DALI components were specifically chosen for this major installation because of the installation and maintenance cost savings they permit.
Second prize went to the company Zumtobel Licht GmbH (A) for a project realised in Prague. The idea of using DALI technology for metro station lighting is original and innovative. Metro station lighting needs to meet high requirements in terms of reliability, which is why the DALI management system was designed to encompass both the emergency lighting and the general lighting. The jury was convinced by the technical realisation of the different lighting situations – and thus the scope of management options to ensure reliable lighting – as well as by the simplicity of system monitoring for the performance and scheduling of maintenance work.
The DALI lighting installation in the Hilton Congess Center in Rome, submitted by Osram Italia spa (Italy) took third prize.
The jury was impressed by the emotional impacts made possible by the installation. Essentially, RGB LED is used here to create architectural effects and realise a variety of lighting scenes.
The members of the jury were Martin Lupton (PLDA President), Hans-Peter Birkhofer (AG DALI President) and Dr. Jürgen Waldorf (Chief Executive of ZVEI Lighting Division). The criteria for judgement included energy efficiency, technological and design innovation, emotional impact as well as the installation simplicity and thus low installation cost permitted by the DALI system.
