DALI standard - IEC 62386

DALI is a worldwide standard, specified by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The DALI protocol is set out in the technical standard IEC 62386.

Particular requirements for control gear

  • 201: Fluorescent Lamps (Device type 0)
  • 202: Self-contained emergency lighting (device type 1)
  • 203: discharge lamps (excluding fluorescent lamps) (device type 2)
  • 204: Low voltage halogen lamps (device type 3)
  • 205: Supply voltage controller for incandescent lamps (device type 4)
  • 206: Conversion from digital signal into d. c. voltage (device type 5)
  • 207: LED modules (device type 6)
  • 208: Switching function (device type 7)
  • 209: Colour control (device type 8)

Purchasing the published version

It is not allowed to share any of the standards. The published version can be purchased from the IEC, or a national standards institute such as the BSI in the UK.

For parts that are not yet published, these are available to the technical experts within the IEC project team for the purposes of authoring, reviewing and editing the standards. Any company can nominate an expert and request that the chairman of the project team allows the expert to join the next meeting.

Publication of DALI 2

The second edition for parts 101 (system) and 102 (control gear), and the first edition for part 103 (control devices) has just been published.
