Peter van der Kolk

Peter graduated as an exchange student at Middlesex University in London, BEng(hons) Electronic Engineering and Management. From there he built up 17 years of European B2B experience. Peter’s career started with the design of wireless data telemetry applications. This was followed by a business development career in the CATV industry specialising in distributing networks for video, telephony and internet. Early 2000’s Peter applied his data-communication knowledge to step into the Lighting Controls industry. Combined with his product marketing background Peter is now responsible for the business development of LED control gear at Helvar. In addition to his activities at Helvar Peter is Chairman of the DALI organisation. In 2012 Peter completed his postgraduate degree at the Open University, MBA (Technology & Management). With his passion for technology Peter volunteers as a STEMNET Ambassador supporting opportunities to inspire young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). At home in England he enjoys spending his spare time exercising his hunting dog and playing tennis.

Liisa Halonen

Liisa Halonen is Professor at Aalto University, Vice Department Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation. Where she is leading the Lighting Unit and responsible for the Master- and Post-graduate education in illuminating engineering. She has several years of experience in education and research related to lighting. Professor Halonen has managed over 80 national and international research projects. She has been the Co-ordinator of several EU projects and the Co-ordinator of IEA Project ‘Energy Efficient Electric Lighting for Buildings’. Lighting Unit is doing major research work on LED lighting in buildings and smart cities. She is the chairman of CIE JTC 1 dealing implementation of Mesopic Photometry on outdoor lighting”. Liisa Halonen is member of many Editorial Boards and Scientific Committees.

Iain Ruxton

Iain studied at the University of Glasgow and, whilst working as a graphic designer, became interested in lighting design for its mix of creative and technical skills. Iain has 18 years of experience as a lighting designer with Speirs + Major. He has worked on a many award-winning projects including: Burj Al Arab and the Sheikh Zayed Mosque (UAE), HBOS Headquarters ( Edinburgh), Heathrow Terminal Five, Trump International Tower (Toronto), and the world’s tallest building - Burj Khalifa. He has also worked on a number of lighting strategy and master planning projects in the UK and the Middle East. He has lectured at numerous events speaking on topics ranging from LED technology and energy efficiency to narratives in lit landscapes and the semiotics of light. He has led teaching workshops and also writes occasional pieces for the press in the UK and elsewhere.

Gordon Routledge

Gordon Routledge is an early pioneer in the use of high powered LEDs in lighting applications when we founded Lumidrives in 2001, a business which he successfully grew and sold to Dialight PLC in 2006, where he then ran the global illumination business until 2009. Since then he has operated as an independent consultant advising a diverse range of lighting businesses from Hi-tech startups through to large established lighting groups, with particular specialism in customer engagement, product strategy and technology development. In 2010 he cofounded Revo Media Partners an events and publishing business which concentrates on the lighting and energy efficiency markets through a number of leading titles and events including Lux Review magazine and Lux Live the largest B2B lighting trade show in the UK. Mr Routledge holds a degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Manchester and is inventor and coinventor of a significant number of patents.
